VBAT wins 2006 FAB Award with Freeez

Brand development agency VBAT and its client Freeez have won a Food and Beverage (FAB) Award in the category Packaging & Design for Diary Products. During the presentation ceremony in London last Monday night, the judges described the Freeez` "Not guilty" creative concept as outstanding. Both agency and client representatives were on hand to collect the award.

Freeez, the brand that makes delicious things lighter, is a new and innovative player in the food market. It has been launched in response to the growing demand for products containing fewer calories. "Not guilty" is the brand proposition, but also the key product characteristic and the most important claim made by every Freeez line.

The packaging designed by VBAT for Freeez doubles as the smallest billboard in the Netherlands. It features paparazzi-style shots of people captured unawares as they enjoy an ice cream.

Out of more than 3000 entries from 60 countries, VBAT was the only agency to be nominated for four FAB Awards. And the only Dutch entrant to receive any nominations at all. The other VBAT projects in the running included Buna Bet, an Ethiopian-style coffee house which supports disadvantaged Ethiopians by providing them with employment. It was nominated in the category Logo Design & Brand Identity and in the subcategory Packaging/Design for Non-Alcoholic Drinks.

Both projects were initiated by the VBAT internal BrandFire platform. This is the agency`s creative laboratory, charged with stimulating the intuition and creativity of both our own designers and the client.

The FAB Awards are an international creative programme dedicated exclusively to work for brands in the food and beverage industry. They are judged by professionals in design, advertising, digital marketing, DM and packaging, as well as client representatives.
