A Bronze Pentaward for VBAT

06-09-2017 - VBAT is proud and excited about taking home a Bronze Pentaward from the Pentawards Gala Ceremony at the Guggenheim Museum last night. This prestigious award is extra special for us. It represents a crown on our creative work and our vibrant partnership with Heineken Global Design.

The Heineken World Bottle The World Bottle was created to go head to head with champagne and expensive liquors in premium outlets, venues where glass beer bottles won’t do. It also had to offer a unique experience at upscale bars, lounges and clubs around the world, at night and during the day.

How to create a considered but accessible icon that appeals simultaneously to many different cultures in countless urban areas? We found that icon in a horizontal wrap-around line that fittingly represents the equator. This icon captures the cross-border attitude of the brand and visualizes its open, explorative attitude towards new peoples and cultures. Literally, the line divides the World Bottle into Northern and Southern hemispheres, each with its corresponding continents and cities.

We underscored the brand’s cosmopolitan character by graphically mapping the names of the world’s main metropolises. We expressed their regional diversity by crafting various typography styles linked to each region. To reinforce the premium experience, we introduced UV inks to add an unexpected layer, offering trendy consumers yet another visual cue for their on-premise conversations. Further underscoring this equatorial global split, we also designed an all-white version of the World Bottle.

Using a less is more approach, the World Bottle embraces the iconography of design and the simplicity of language to create an exclusive experience for anyone eager to enjoy one, wherever they are in the world.
